"Thanksgiving Feast For Seniors" 2020
Now Serving Grimes, Harris, and Madison Counties
It's that time of year again. This Thanksgiving Holiday, we will be providing Turkeys to Seniors in the community. Deliveries will be made on November 20 thru 22. Many area Seniors not only spend their holidays alone but often times at the end of the month, they have very little to eat. The value of our area seniors is endless.Consider the retired teacher that has contributed to society with his/her knowledge, or the retired veteran who fought for our country and came home without a leg or an arm. They have served us well. Let us stand together and show our appreciation this year. For more information on how you can help or if you know a senior in need. Please contact us at info@riseinfaith.org

American education, once the envy of the world, is in dire straits with more than 60 percent of fourth, eighth and 12th grade public school students reading or doing math below grade level. For Black and Hispanic children, it is nearly 80 percent or more.
Using the latest data available, this comprehensive report includes a foreword by Marian Wright Edelman, “Moments in America”—a snapshot of children each day in America, and 11 chapters on the well-being of children across the country.
CDF’s new report The State of America's Children 2011 finds children have fallen further behind in many of the leading indicators over the past year as the country slowly climbs out of the recession. This is a comprehensive compilation and analysis of the most recent and reliable national and state-by-state data on population, poverty, family structure, family income, health, nutrition, early childhood development, education, child welfare, juvenile justice, and gun violence. The report provides key child data showing alarming numbers of children at risk: children are the poorest age group with 15.5 million children—one in every five children in America—living in poverty, and more than 60 percent of fourth, eighth and 12th grade public school students are reading or doing math below grade level.

Children of color, now 44 percent of America’s children, are at increased risk of being uninsured and in poor health and being killed by guns. A Cradle to Prison Pipeline haunts them from birth to adulthood.
This downward spiral for America’s children continues through all indicators, as the recession and slow recovery have taken the harshest toll on the most vulnerable.
